CHISHOLM TRAIL EXHIBIT COMING TO EASTLAND COUNTY MUSEUM
August 31 through October 27, 2023
Eastland County Museum is pleased to announce that it is hosting the Texas Lakes Trail traveling exhibit on the historic Chisholm Trail beginning August 31.
The Texas Historical Commission celebrated the 150th anniversary of this fabled trail which took millions of longhorns north to railroads in Kansas. The money from the sale of the longhorns brought Texas out of the financial disaster following the Civil War.
The exhibit is composed of 34 panels and is complementary to the excellent Texas Historic Commission brochure on the Chisholm Trail. It will be on display thru October 27, 2023.
Eastland County Museum hours are Thursdays thru Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when volunteers are available. Eastland County Museum is located at 114 S. Seaman St., Eastland. There is never a fee to visit the Museum. Donations are welcome.
The exhibit can be made available through Jill Jordan by calling 817-559-2288 or emailing at [email protected].
Douglas Harman, Robert and Clara Holmes created the exhibit through a grant from the Fash Foundation. The Texas Lakes Trail Region is one of the ten Texas Heritage Trail Regions of Texas Historical Commission.
This exhibit was made possible in part by a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment of the Arts.
