Museums rely on two major contributions to remain open and interesting. Of course, the first is funding and we are no different. Money keeps the lights on and the doors open. If you would like to make a financial contribution, please go to our DONATION page by clicking here. We appreciate ALL donations!
The second type of contribution is the donating of physical items, photos, or family histories or information, related to local history, families, events, etc. Most of the items within our Museum, whether on display or in our stored collections, have been donated by people just like you. Many times, while families are clearing out grandma’s house, they discover items that they think may be historical in nature to our local history. They or their families have no interest, or space, to keep such items, and want to share with the public. We appreciate each and every item a family offers. Some items may be placed on display. Some items may be placed into our collections storage. But, some items, may be determined to have no historical significance to Eastland County. In this rare case the item may be transferred to another museum where the item may be related; the item may be placed into our hands on education collections; and in very rare situations, depending on the condition, the item may be disposed of.
Once an item is donated to the Museum, paperwork is signed by both the donor and a Museum representative, and that item becomes the sole property of the Eastland County Museum.
Again, we appreciate all donations, whether monetary or physical items.
Eastland County Museum is a non-profit charitable organization under IRS rule 501 (c) (3). Monetary donation may be tax deductible. Physical item values are not determined by the Eastland County Museum. Any tax-deductible value must be set by the donor.
If you have an item you would like to donate to us, first, please download and complete the DEED OF GIFT form found below and either drop it by the Museum during business hours, drop it in the US mail, or email it to: eastlandcountymuseum@gmail.com
After review by the Museum board, you will be contacted to make arrangements for the Museum to receive your item.
Again, we APPRECIATE ALL DONATIONS!
